Scenic Sunday

I came upon this family of deer on the road to the Widforss Trailhead this week. The deer up here are wild, but they don't seem to be as skittish as other deer as they didn't run off as soon as they saw me. Instead, they seemed to pose for me.

Autumn colors on Hwy 67 at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon on Tuesday, September 29, 2009. The colors came on fast and disappeared just as fast, but for the short time they were here, they were fabulous! Yellow aspens among the firs and ponderosa pines.

This was taken at the entrance station to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon on Friday, September 4, 2009. A thunderstorm was coming in, with lots of big, dark clouds.

I love this view! The photo was taken last Tuesday, on our way home from Flagstaff to the Grand Canyon, on Highway 89 north towards Page, Arizona.

The North Rim of the Grand Canyon from the Walhalla Overlook. You can see the bend of the Colorado River from there. This was taken on Monday, August 10, 2009. There was still smoke in the air from the Aspen Fire.

This photo was taken at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon on the Uncle Jim Trail in June 2008. You can see the charred tree trunks from a forest fire that burned all the way to the edge of the canyon, and the San Francisco Peaks near Flagstaff, Arizona in the distance.

This is the view from the entrance station on Friday, July 24, 2009, where I work. A thunderstorm was approaching from the north. The rain and the breeze it created helped to cool the temps down to 70 degrees. Nice!

Since I couldn't decide which of these I liked the best, you get a double view from Point Imperial at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon in Arizona this week. It was a nice clear day, it had been raining so the ground was wet and the colors were vibrant. Did you know that the full name for this place is The Grand Canyon of The Colorado River? I learned that this week--I never knew that before.

Friday afternoon at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon in Arizona. There was a thunderstorm rolling in, with heavy dark clouds and lots of noise. We sat outside waiting for the rain, but only got a few drops!

We drove from Georgia to south Texas in our pick-up truck, pulling a pop-up camper in 1997. We camped at Bentsen Rio Grand Valley State Park in Mission. This was on an oxbow lake near the Rio Grand River. You can no longer camp at this state park. We were very lucky to go there when we did.

Along the Rio Grande, the border between the United States and Mexico, near McAllen, Texas, in March 2004. It was a gorgeous day. A friend of ours took us fishing in has speedy boat. This looking across the river to Mexico.
